28) confirm (endorse) / conform:此二字因讀音接近常易混淆：

1. confirm vt. 確認；confirmation n.

a. Passengers have to ~ their reservation 72 hours prior to departure. 旅客在啟程72 小時之前必須

確認他們的訂位。(prior to …= before)

b. We~ the receipt of your letter dated December 20, 2006. 臺端2006年12月20日大函敬悉。

c. Upon final confirmation, you will be listed among thousands of accomplishedprofessionals in the

Who’s who. 最後一確認，你的大名就會名列於成千上萬，事業有成的專業人士名人錄中。

re-confirm 再確認 reconfirmation n.再確認 (登機前)

比較：endorse vt.確認；背書。

endorsement n.

對一種低熱量啤酒廣告，他支出的代言費用，謠傳使他父親的薪水相形失色。(calorie卡洛里

2. conform vt & vi. 符合；順從   ~ to + n.

1. commend  vt. = praise 稱讚；commendation n. 稱讚

2. command  vt.

a.命令； 統率 ~ er 司令官；~ er-in-chief 總司令；~ing (a.) officer 司令官

~ n.控制；支配能力；get the ~ of the air 得到制空權

比較：commandment n. (神的) 誡律 the Ten C~ s (摩西) 十誡

30) confection /confession :兩字發音極為接近：

1. confection n. 糖果；點心 * confectionery n. 糖果店

It results in a confection sweetened by rare grace and gentle nobility.它導致成為一塊由稀有的優雅，和溫文的高貴所甜化的糖果。

2. confession n. 供認；招供；告解 (天主教)

As a pious Catholic, she goes to confession regularly.  身為一位虔誠的天主教徒，她經常去告解。a self-~ 口供

On his self-~ he had stolen the car. 根據自己招認，他偷了車。

** confess v. 承認；招供， ~ one’s sins 認罪
