81) pose / poise/ position/ pause / pulse:

1.    pose v. 擺姿勢;引起,造成 n. 姿勢;position n. 姿勢;立場;
職位
a.    Some supplements may ~ a risk with heart drugs. 一些營養藥物心
臟藥物合用或許會引起危險。

b. Lost, damaged, or stolen car keys can ~big problems for motorists these days.
近來汽車鑰匙遺失、損壞或失竊都會為車主造成大的麻煩。

c.  The anxiety and urgency often ~ as a conflict between spectatorship
and action.焦慮與急迫常引起一種旁觀者與採取行動的衝突。(事關己則焦慮,事不關己則僅急迫而已)

( 註:spectator 旁觀者,spectatorship 袖手旁觀)

注意:其他以 –pose 結尾的字:(通常作動詞用):

compose v. 組成;depose 罷黜;罷免; impose 加於之上
oppose v. 反對;expose v.暴露;dispose (of) 處置

2. position vt. 定位= put …in a certain position

3. poise v. 使均衡 balance

4. pause v.n. 暫停

5. pulse n. 脈搏。The nurse is feeling my ~ 護士正量我的脈搏

82) precede / proceed/ (approach):  

1. Precede  vat. 之前 A~ B = B succeeds A  (B A之後)John ~ d Harry as chairman of the club = Harry succeeded John as chairman of the club. John Harry 之前擔任主席。
(Harry John 之後擔任主席)

**supersede 取代 (在時間須順序上,新的取代舊的)
= take the place of

2. proceed [prD'sid ] v. ~ to + 地方 (前往. go to….) / ~ with +
(繼續)

比較approach vt. 走到 = come up to =proceed注意:approach 後不
必再加to

a. Please have forms filled out prior to approaching the window. 來到櫃台前,請先將表格填好。美國郵局櫃台前之佈告

b. Newly inspired, Murray realized there was only one network he wanted to ~ with the idea. Muray 感到新血來潮,體會僅有一網路媒體,他要拿這個想法去接洽。

c. He was being ~ed about being the dean of a few business schools.
人家一再找他去當若干商學院的院長。

approach n.對策

That doesn’t mean it’s smart to take a “wait and see” ~. 那並非意謂採用觀望
對策是明智的。
