63) infection / infarction:

 infect v. (疾病或電腦) 感染：

1.    infection n. gastrointestinal ~ 腸胃疾病感染；virus ~ 濾過性

病毒感染

a.     According to the doctor, the flu is caused by virus~ .依醫生看法，

感冒是由濾過性病毒所感染。

b.    In severe cases, low WBC counts may increase the risk of ~s.

在嚴重病例中，低白血球數目也許會增加感染的危險。

比較：

defect v. 背叛； 變節；~ or 背叛者； defection n. defect n.缺點

= weakness = drawback      

      

2.    infarction n. (血管) 阻塞形成；cardiac ~ 梗塞形成 myocardial ~ (醫學上

簡稱MI) 又稱心肌梗塞

64) ingenious /ingenuous:

* genius n.天才(genii 複數形)；但，genie 魔

* idiot n.白癡 an irresponsible ~不負責的白癡 (罵人語)；idiotic a.

愚蠢的

*idiocy n. =great foolishness大愚蠢；idiosyncrasy n. 個人的怪異

特質

a.     ingenious adj. 是genius的形容詞， = clever= resourceful 聰明的 ingenuity n. = cleverness

精巧。但

b. ingenuous adj. 純真的=frank；simple= naïve ；無矯飾的； ingenuousness n.

The newcomer was so ingenuous that we had to explain even the most basic things to

 him. 這位新來是如此天真幼稚，以致連最基本的東西，我們也不得不向他

解釋。

65) innocent/ ignorant:

ignorant 與innocent 發音接近，但意思不同：

1. ignorant a. 無知的

We are ~ of his plot. = We know nothing about his plot

= We are in the dark about his plot. 對於他的陰謀我們不知情。

ignorance n. 無知

The cost of education is high, but try ~! 教育的費用是昂貴的，但

無知代價更高!
