what are you? what do you do? how do you do?

What are you ?

What do you do? I am a consultant./ a dealer of brand new
cars.

*A man is measured not so much by what he has (his wealth) as by what he is. (his character.)

How do you do? = How do you make a living (by profession)?(你好嗎?)
How are you? = How are you doing?
= How are you getting along?
How’re you doing? How’re you?

Where are you from? / Where do you
come from? 若問人:「What is your nationality?
your national origin?」

德高望重的人士)「請問府上是?-Where are you from?」

Your country and mine have been on good terms for centuries.

若由中譯英時,可否必要譯成:「Your noble country and my humble one have been on good terms for centuries.」?
有時會有如:your esteemed firm貴公司、your humble servant.
