四、 副詞 (Adverb):修飾:動詞、形容詞、另一副詞、
全句(前、後述)

43) although though 均可當從屬連接詞= in spite of  (= despite) the fact that
+ 子句 (雖然)
 但,僅 though 可當副詞用,其用法等於however不過在正式英語以
however為佳;though 仍限用於口語用法。例句:
He didn’t mind going to a basketball game, though, when his friends
were going.  (儘管當他朋友都要去看球賽時,他並不反對去)

44) narrow a. 狹窄的
* narrowly adv. 僥倖地

They ~ escaped from the disaster. 他們從大浩劫中僥倖逃出。
= They had a narrow escape from the disaster.
Gay marriage bill is narrowly approved by the state senate. 
(男性同性戀結婚法案僥倖被州參議院通過)
比較:
*Ford lost the election by a narrow margin. 福特以小敗選輸。

*closely   adv. 密切的:
Watch me ~. 注意看著我。
They are ~ related to each other. 他們關係密切。

45) everywhere adv. 到處   = in (at) every place
somewhere adv. 在某處 = in (at) some place    
The sword must be kept somewhere in the room   這把劍一定放在房間的某處。
anywhere adv. 在任何地方 = in (at) any place        
nowhere adv. 在任何地方不 = in (at) no place   
* 以上四字均不可加 s

We looked everywhere, but the children were nowhere in sight; they could not be found anywhere.  (我們到處找;可是看不到小孩; 也找不到他們)

46) Saying “Thanks a lot”, he left through the rear door.
(一邊說著 :「很感謝」,他一邊從後門離開)

 a lot 是一片語 = a great number or amount;在正式用法中避免使用 alot
alot  不是一個字.

 *比較a while / awhile          
  
 We have been here for a while.  (n. )
= We have been here awhile.我們來這兒好一會兒。(adv.)
 while (名詞) 指時間 once in a ~  偶爾 / for a ~ 暫時 / in a ~ 不久
馬上 / all the ~ 自始至終

**   awhile (adv.) 其前面不可加介詞
