41) decline / incline /recline:

1. recline  v. (使身體) 倚靠;= to lie or cause to lie downrecliner n. 靠椅;
reclining feeding seat for infant-to-toddler 適合嬰兒至學走路小孩之餵食
座椅
(註:recline feeding seat= seat for recline feedinginfant n. 嬰兒;toddler
走路小孩)

2. decline n. bend:衰退 
a. the fall and ~ of the Roman Empire 羅馬帝國之衰亡

b. It is a symptom of a civilization in decline, if not in decadence. 它是一個
文明正衰退中的症狀,如果不是正在腐敗的話。(in ~ 正衰退中)

c. Daily newspapers across the country began to see rapid ~as more people began
to get their news from the internet and cable TV.
國報紙開始看到銷售迅速衰退,因更多人開始從網路與有線電視取得
新聞。
~ vi 變衰老:His health is declining. 他的健康正衰退中。 
~ to + v. 拒絕:~s to accept the offer. Tim 拒絕接受這個出價。

**比較 be inclined to + V  傾向於= tend to +V.
*Recent history has shown that Americans tend to “spend” energy efficiency
on more luxurious product, not “bank” on energy savings. 最近歷史顯示美國
人,傾向於把金錢花在更豪華而省電的產品上,而非在僅省電的產品上。
(註:bank v. ~ on 依靠)

42) dependent/ dependency:

1.dependent  a.依賴的;be~ on = depend on 
We are no longer ~ on his assistance. 我們不再依靠他的幫助。
=We do not depend on his assistance any longer. 

*dependant = dependent n. 眷屬
a. She is the only ~ for him to support. 她是他唯一扶養的眷屬。

b. The patients may become extremely confused, suspicious, fearful or dependent on a family member. 病人也許極端困惑,猜疑、恐懼或依賴家庭成員。

3. dependency n. 屬地;依附 ~ benefit 扶養津貼
He also receives $250 a month in ~ benefit for Robin, who is a senior at a
university. 扶養他就讀大四的女兒-羅賓,他每月也收到250元的扶養津貼
