91) shake /sake / sack:

1. shake v. 搖動；發抖 shook shaken ** vibrate v. 振動

~ hands with + 人  (與….握手)；At the sight, she was shaking with fear一看到這一幕，他害怕得發抖。~ with cold, hunger  (因寒冷；飢餓而發抖)

2. sake n. 緣故，for God’s (Christ’s /Jesus’) ~ 看在老天的份上；for peace’~ 為了和平；for conscience’~ 為了良心；for the sake of  pity= for pity's sake…  看在同情份點

       

3. sack n. 麻袋 a ~ of sugar 一袋砂糖；* give + 人 the ~ 解僱= lay off

92) sock /shock / suck:

1.    shock  v. n. 震驚；休克

People are ~ed to hear of the sad news. 聽到悲傷的消息，人們感震驚。

President Nixon’s S~ 尼克森總統(對世界) 的震撼；culture~文化衝擊 (因文化差異而產生)

2. sock n. 短襪；a pair of ~s 一雙短襪；the Red S~s 紅襪隊 (美國著名職棒球隊)

【比較】： a bobby soxer  (俚語-仍穿短襪的小女生-未成年，含譏笑之意)；stocking n.長統吊襪；a pair of ~ s 一雙長襪

3.suck v. 吸吮；sucker n. (俚語) 乳臭未乾的小子；You ~! 你處世未深。

93) sore/soar:     

1. sore [ sor ] a. 疼痛的; have a ~ throat 喉嚨痛get ~ about + 事 (對…事不高興) 

= angry; annoyed

2. soar vi. (to rise above the usual level) 升高

a. The rocket ~s high in the sky. 火箭高升入空中。

b. Recently oil price ~s.近來油價高漲。

c. Gang violence in this city has ~ed to epidemic proportions.

本市幫派暴力已升高到到處漫延的程度。

d. “New Orleans death toll may ~; survivors desperate; looters

brazen.” 紐奧良市水災死亡人數也許會升高；生還者絕望；搶匪

厚顏地大肆掠奪。
