八、動狀詞  (Verbal) (又稱變體動詞)

38)  Most of forwarded mail is junk mail.  (大部分別人轉傳過來的郵件都是垃圾郵件。)

         1. forward   adv. 向前 ， F~ march! 齊步走!

           We look ~ to seeing you  我們盼望看見你。

2. forward  vt.  轉傳 (文件, 信件等)

He is ~ ing mail to me. 他正轉交信給我。       ~ ed + n. 被轉傳的

l Who has significantly reduced delivery time for forwarded mail?

誰已經顯明地減少傳送的時間，來看轉來的檔?

   

39)  I cannot help admiring his courage. (我不能不讚賞他的勇氣。)

                

1.     cannot but + V  / cannot help + Ving  / cannot help but +V 忍不住；

不得不：

        Y     ou cannot help but admire such short-lived determination.

你忍不住要羡慕這種短暫的決心。

        A    Athis point we cannot but utter a sigh.  (= cannot help uttering a sigh)此刻我們不得

不歎口氣。

       2.       help v.另作  “避免” 解 = prevent

I just couldn’t ~ it    我只好做了。   That can’t be ~ ed.  無可奈何。   

  

She burst out crying; she couldn’t ~ herself.  她忍不住放聲大哭。

I can’t ~ his having so many lazy relatives. 他有這麼多懶惰的親戚，我也沒有

辦法。

 Do not tell him more than you can ~    別告訴他太多。

40) Today’s breaking news is that the king was assassinated by the terrorists.                                                                     

                   (今天的號外新聞是國王被恐怖份子刺殺。)

    

1. breaking news = news which comes into being, notice 引起注意； 號外消息

2. break  broke  broken     ( broken  被打破)

The two lovers parted with each other with a broken heart. 這對戀人心碎地分手。

We felt sorry for the boy in the heart-breaking story.  我們同情令人心碎

故事中的男孩。
