35) all the same/ just the same:

same:

1. all the ~ = just the ~ = in spite of that = nevertheless 儘管如此                        

He was not helpful, but we thanked him all the ~ 他雖未幫上忙 ，可是我們仍感謝他。

We will stand by her all the same even if she is wrong.  (即使她不對，我們仍然支持她。)

                

2 .be all (just) the ~ to + 人 (對…沒有兩樣)  = be a matter of no importance

 = make no difference to +人

It is all the same to me whether you pay me back this week or next week.

=It does not matter to me whether you pay me back this week or next week.                

 你本周或下周還清我錢都無所謂。

36) yet/ already的辦別：

一般說，表示「已經」，already 用於肯定句，yet 用於否定句和疑問句：

                       

a. He already told me what happened. 他已告知我發生的事。

b. We have not been informed of latest development yet.  我們尚未被告知最近的發展。

 = We have not yet been informed of latest development.

c. Has he made up his mind yet?  Yes, he did already.  No, he hasn’t, yet. 他下定了決心嗎？是，他已下了決心 。 不， 尚未。

1.     yet 亦可用於肯定句，作「仍、更、亦發」解：

a.     Save the child while there is yet time. (趁還有時間救救小孩。)

原句…while there is yet time 趁還有時間 (雖不是很充裕); 若用 still則表示

時間充裕      

b.      The problem is ~ more confusing 這問題亦發令人困惑。

c.* The worst is ~ to come. 最壞的情況還在後頭呢。

d. We have ~ (= still) more encouraging news for you.  我們有更令人鼓舞的消息給你。

e. I have ~ (=still) some cases to take care of  我仍有些案件待辦。

f. Sadly, the stock market has ~ to show the love for this view. 令人傷心的是，股

市仍須表現對此景觀的愛好。

*g. It seemed that a time not so long ago was yet already far away. 似乎不久之前

發生的事，卻早已變得很遙遠。(註：本句的特色在yet與already並用在

一句中，是難得的好句子)。

2. as yet 迄今 = up to the present 請參閱 (15) 題

3. yet    另作連接性副詞，and yet  = but  He is smart, and ~ he is lazy.  他聰明卻懶惰。
