取材自監獄故事的電影Unchained(越獄) ，作於1955年。歌詞內容叙述一位獄友幻想從未見面的愛人，本曲於1955年競逐Oscar Award(金像獎主題曲)，但不幸被 “Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing” 擊敗。

unchained亦可譯為出獄(服刑完畢) ，Unchained Melody-『出獄幻想曲』-幻想從未見面的情人。

一、    本曲特色：是慢調blues舞步，歌詞十分動人
