111) present/ presentation/ representation:

1.     present  n. (重音在第一音節) 禮物~ 指重要節日的禮物，如；Christmas ~

聖誕禮物；birthday ~生日禮物，(日人直譯本字，以顯尊重它與東方所謂的禮「物」

有別；至於中國人之紅有譯為money in red envelopes)；台灣對它的稱呼為「伴手」-

去拜訪親友的禮物，含較正式之物；另一種叫「等路」指旅遊途中帶回之禮物，多

半以吃的為主，但不一定送人。

另gift 則指一般性的，如百貨公司的贈禮等；free ~ (buy one get one free買一

送一)； ~ v.  (重音在第二音節) 呈送；提出；發表；介紹；表現

本書呈現此將軍是位進取的領袖，他首要任務是和平而非戰爭。

2. presentation n.

本年度發表的課程是紀念Tom Simmons先生。

本書活潑地、完全地正確表現出日常英語活例。

2.     representation  n.代表 (指動作)；representative  n.代表 (指人) Representative n. 眾議員

112) pleased / pleasant:

1. please vt. 取悅；討好He who tries to ~ everybody ~s nobody. 《父子騎驢》

— 喻凡事要有己見。

2. pleased a. 高興的  (指人) We are ~ at the result.   我們對於這結果感高興。

displeased a.不高興的 (指人) Father is ~ at his son’s GPA at school. 父親對兒子

學校的平均成績不樂。

3. pleasant adj. = pleasing 討人喜歡的， (指人或事物) ：~ weather; ~ 

stewardess 女傭；unpleasant   令人不高興的 (人或事物)

If a task is unpleasant but must be done, set it for the beginning of a day.

如果一件工作不討人喜歡，但又須做完，就設定它在一天開始時優先來做。
