1. intelligent a. = clever = wise 明智的 (可以指人或事)  ~ response 聰明

的回答；~ listeners 聰明的聽眾；intelligence n. ~ quotient = I.Q. 智商

2. intelligible a. 清楚的 (clear; that can be understood) 明確的 (僅指事情)

The instruction he received was intelligible enough. 他接到的指示夠明確。

2. require v. 需要；~ment  n.；requisite a. n. 要素

require 與規定必需行為的規章有關：

Employers ~ perfect punctuality and flawless performance. 雇主要求嚴守時間及表無瑕。

【比較】：demand：強調需要，而且可以指事先擬訂的公正原則。

No rational person would require such constant reassurances as she demanded.

有理智者都不需要像她那樣，要求這種經常的保證。
