10) beware/ aware:

1. aware  知道 adj. be ~ of + n. = know (realize) / be ~ that + 子句：

People are ~ of the coming flood. = People are ~ that the flood is coming. 人們知道

水災即將來臨。

He revealed the secret without being ~ of it. 他不知不覺洩漏了秘密。

2. beware vi ~ of + n. = be careful of + n. 小心提防。~ of  pickpockets 小心扒手。 

 ~ of imitations. 謹防假冒  **  B~ of the dog (內有惡犬)

 專售真、假錶

比較：

be wary of + V-ing：慎重的；小心的 Mary is ~ of making the same mistakes.   

Mary小心犯相同的錯誤。be vigilant 警戒的；守的 (= watchful) of + n.

11) betray/ reveal /expose:

1. betray [b0'tre] vt.  betrayal n.

a. 背叛 = go back on = turn one’s back on; ~ a friend; one’s country

  traitor n. 叛徒; treason n. 叛逆罪

b  (不知不覺地) 暴露= reveal unknowingly

i.                 The appearance of the house ~ s its age. 房子外表暴露出它的年代已久。

ii. In the near future, you are likely to ~ your fear by appearing nervous. 

在不久的將來，你可能表現緊張而暴露出你內心的恐懼。

** 口語英文double-cross v. =betray；double-crosser = traitor (*若指感情上的背叛，

即時下流行用語「劈腿」應用cheat on + 人，cheater愛情騙徒)

2. reveal vt.  revelation n.

a. 洩漏 (秘密) = let on

b. display; exhibit   顯示；展示 (有意地或自然地)

i. Her frequent absence ~s that she is lukewarm about the volunteer job.

她一再缺席顯示她對義工缺乏熱心。

ii. Imagine a living room that ~ s your style story. 想像擁有一間能展示你風格的

正式客聽。

iii. The secrets behind this popular table are now ~ed. 在這張受歡迎的桌子後面

的秘密顯示出來了。

1. expose vt. exhibit; make known; reveal；~ 常作及物動詞：~ +受詞+to+ 名詞；

be + ~ (p.p.) + to +名詞

a.     She likes to ~herself (be exposed) to the sun in winter. 她喜歡冬天曬太陽。

b.     Here the hardwood frame and quality joinery of the chair are ~d to reveal the

inside story of its superior craftsmanship. 硬木木框與椅子高品質的旬木銜接，顯

露出木匠精緻工夫的訣竅。(本句把expose 與reveal兩字成功地用在一起。)
