37) whatever亦可引導一名詞子句，whatever = all the things which 是包含前述詞之複合關係代名詞，比前述的what範圍較廣：

《Whatever will be will be; the future is not our eyes to

see.》船到橋頭自然直—(會發生的事無法避免，未來不可預測)-勿杞人憂天。whatever will be一個名詞子句= anything that will be 作後面will be 之主詞.。註：Whatever will be will be = Que se ra se ra. (拉丁諺語)

a. No one believes whatever he says. 無人相信他，不論他說什麼話。 (如用what,則僅指他說的那一句話)

*b. Whatever you sell, I don’t buy it. 我不相信，不論你說什麼話。

比較：

c. What curious books I have, they are indeed but few, shall be at your disposal.

我所擁有珍奇的書本即使不多，但可以全供你使用。(註：What curious books…= All the curious books that I have…；what作關係形容詞，at one’s disposal 任由…使用)

Note: whatever 之其他用法：

1.     引導一個副詞子句 = no matter what…它必須和主要子句以逗號隔開：Whatever may come, (= Come what may) we are on your side.無論結果如何，我們都支持你。

2.     ~ you say. 依你的意思。 ~ you like.依你的喜好

3. 否定+ ~~ = 否定+ at all (作加強語氣用)

They don’t have any right ~~ to say so. 他們一點也沒權利這說。= They have no right at all to say so.

*比較：whichever:

W~ model you decide on, you can be certain luxury welcomes you. 無論你決定選購何種樣品屋，你能確定買的是豪宅。(whichever= no matter which)
