“Who are you?”

中文問別人：「你是誰？」用 "Who are you?" 屬唐突、不禮貌、或太直接的問法，除非是
警質詢嫌犯。如在電話中，則應用
 

“Who is this?”我是Jane. This is Jane. 不可說 I am Jane.；或“May I ask who is calling？”
也可以用更禮貌的說法：
May I ask who I am talking to?”若見不到人而只聽到敲門聲，則問“Who is it?” It’s Jane。
 (it 指某件動作的行動者)

《比較》：
1)

As an outstanding scientist in modern China, Dr. Chian’s name is listed in Who’s Who. (作為

現代中國一位傑出的科學家； 錢博士的名字在名人錄中可以找到。)

Who’s Who (= Who is who….?) 名人錄；習慣上作名詞片語用。

Upon final confirmation, you will be listed among thousands of accomplished professionals in the

Who’s who. 經最後確認後，您的大名將被列入，好幾千名事業有成的專才名人錄中。

注意：

who’s = who is ；而 whose (所有格) + 名詞：指「……的」。Whose car is it? 它是誰的車子？ (whose 作人稱代名詞)

Tina is the girl whose father used to be my professor.  (whose 作關係代名詞) Tina 就是這位女孩，她父親過去一向是我教授。

2)*近來, 有人喜用 「Who 怕who ? 」來表示「我不怕你」是屬洋涇濱英文(pidgin English)

*Let me tell you this.(this指即將要說的話)

*That’s what he said.(that指已說過的話或事情)。

*I want you to give me an answer, and that immediately.我要你立刻回答我。(that指give me

an answer)。但，

I’m definitely a woman and I enjoy it. (我是不折不扣的女人，也歡喜做女人)。(it指做女人)。

*that常用在口語中：That’s it! 正是如此。That’s all. (=That’s everything) 完畢。
