文法(grammar)與句型(sentence patterns)
四、 副詞
(Adverb):修飾:動詞、形容詞、另一副詞、
全句(前、後述)
43) although 與 though 均可當從屬連接詞=
in spite of (= despite)
the fact that
+ 子句 (雖然)
但,僅 though 可當副詞用,其用法等於however。不過在正式英語以
however為佳;though 仍限用於口語用法。例句:

basketball game, though, when his friends
were going. (儘管當他朋友都要去看球賽時,他並不反對去)。

* narrowly adv. 僥倖地:
They ~ escaped from the
disaster. 他們從大浩劫中僥倖逃出。
= They had a narrow escape from the
disaster.
Gay marriage bill is narrowly approved by the state senate.
(男性同性戀結婚法案僥倖被州參議院通過)。
比較:
*Ford lost the election by a narrow
margin. 福特以小敗選輸。
*closely adv. 密切的:

other. 他們關係密切。

in the room 這把劍一定放在房間的某處。
anywhere
adv. 在任何地方 = in
(at) any place
nowhere
adv. 在任何地方不 = in
(at) no place
* 以上四字均不可加 s

sight; they could not be found anywhere. (我們到處找;可是看不到小孩; 也找不到他們)。
46) Saying “Thanks a lot”, he left through the
rear door.
(一邊說著 :「很感謝」,他一邊從後門離開)。
a lot 是一片語 = a great number or amount;在正式用法中避免使用 alot
因alot 不是一個字.
*比較:a while / awhile
We have been here for a while.
(n. )
= We have been here awhile.我們來這兒好一會兒。(adv.)
while (名詞) 指時間 :例:once
in a ~ 偶爾 / for a ~ 暫時 / in a ~ 不久;
馬上 / all the ~ 自始至終 。
** awhile (adv.) 其前面不可加介詞
