文法(grammar)與句型(sentence patterns)

四、 副詞 (Adverb)：修飾：動詞、形容詞、另一副詞、

全句(前、後述)

4) well作形容詞與副詞的用法：

1. sb + feel good 心情愉快 ； feel terrific 心情覺得很棒； feel bad (terrible)心情不好；feel lousy  (心情極差)

Don’t feel bad about the test result.   不要為考不好而難過。

                                                                      

2. sb + not feel well 身體不適   「well   此處作形容詞」

I have stomach trouble; I am not feeling so well.  (我消化不好;我身體不舒服)                                                 

3. sb. + be fine / all right/ O.K.：

a. How are you?  I’m fine (= pretty good)  (be fine 用在答復問候語)                  

I’m not feeling so well. (身體不適)

b. Are you all right? I’m all right (O.K.)  你平安嗎?

        

4. well used as adv. 作副詞用：

a.  can’t very ~ + V   不便：

We cannot very ~  deny his request   我們不便 (好) 拒絕他的請求。

b. ~ past 遠超過： She is ~ past sixty   他已六十幾歲。

c. speak ~ of + 人 (稱讚)  * speak ill of + 人 (譭謗)

5) far, by far作副詞的地位：

 Roger is by far the best player on the team. (Roger 是隊里最好的球員。)

1. far；much; very much; a great deal+ 比較級

 例 ~ better 更好； ~ more更多； ~worse更糟 ； ~ smaller更小

2. by far (十分地) + the + 最高級

** 比較級 +  by far ： This is more splendid by far. 更美好。

6) much與very用法的比較：

much 與 very 均為副詞，但置放位置和修飾的詞性不同：

1.much the + 最高級形容詞 + n. = the + very + 最高級形容詞 + n.

much the best way = the very best way   最好的方法

The children were attended to in much the best way. (孩子們受最好的照料)。

2. much the same = the very same  非常相似

3. much alike = very like 外貌十分相像

4. very + 原級 / much + 比較級：very fast / much faster 但，much afraid   (很害怕)

5 very + V-ing  / much + P.P. ：

a very shocking  story  十分令人震驚的故事；(very) much shocked audience

感震驚的觀眾；但，

very pleased  很高興 ； very tired 很累 ；very (much) disappointed  很失望
