45) It is a lone lane that has no turning.

本句不譯為「它是一條沒有轉彎的長巷」，而應譯為「即使最長的巷，也必有轉彎-喻-否極泰來。」

        

           

另例︰

*It is an ill wind that blows nobody good. 無論如何不好的風，不見得人人皆蒙其害-喻，害於此者則利於彼。

**以上兩句中之從屬子句均為否定。比較︰若從屬子句為肯定︰

*It is you that are to consult a psychiatrist. 你該請教精神科醫師。

本句乃You are to consult a psychiatrist. 之加強語氣。

原句不可用….that is to consult.  因為是…you are…..

*It is often the failure who is the pioneer in new lands, new undertakings and new forms of expression.

失敗者常常是開創新天地，新事業與發明新話詞兒的先驅者。

上句可用who 代替that。

注意：一個句子可加強語氣的部分為主詞、受詞與副詞、副詞片語或副詞子句：

*It was not until he came home safe and sound that he appreciated the importance of a home. 直到平安返家他才體會到家庭的重要。

笑話：

一位剛來美留學的學生有一天很興奮地打電話給台灣家人：「爸，我在高速公路上終於學會換lane (輪)了。」老爸很驕傲地告訴友人這消息。

〔change lane 乃更換車道；而台語「換輪」乃更換「輪胎」- change tires也。〕
