Fun with
English Writing (3)
So you have to put up with my half-(
baked English.
Improvement: So you have to accept my poor
English. (half-baked
「半生不熟」在英語指食物的烹調,應說’half-done;
"well-done” ;但I am all done.
So you have to accept my poor English. 或
So you have to pardon me for my broken English.
I would say my feelings are still very fresh and raw and it will probably take me some time yet.
Improvement: my painful
feelings are still fresh…或my painful

註:raw= uncooked未煮熟的,或未整理的,如a piece of raw land一塊生地(未測量或設計用途的) ;raw beer 生啤酒;life in the raw 自然(赤裸的) 人生
I would say my painful feelings (of losing someone)are still new
and it will probably take some time to get them over.
I hardly read any of your communiqués.
Improvement: messages

I hardly read any of e-mail messages sent by you.
However, don't you think 10 years
is a decent
long enough time to pass the baton?
Improvement: a time long enough to...;hand the job over (移交) 。pass the baton…..
。通常,英文用 ”A succeed B”(A接或繼承B的職務;或A +hand 某事over to B- A 移交某事給B)
另註:decent a. =proper, respectable,
fair與long, enough均為adj. …;enough應接 to+V…
However, don’t you think ten
years is long enough to hand over the job?

memory is xxx who taught
American literature.
Improvement: Among the professors most remembered

Among the professors most
remembered is the one who taught American literature.
He made Shakespeare quite
interesting. Of course Father O'hara's humor made fun to attend his
History of Western literature class. (Chinese English?)
Improvement: more appealing to students;brought fun to those attending his class of History of Western Literature

fun to those attending his class of History of Western Literature.

in the dorm,
I was not closed
to most of my classmates.
